Description
One Saturday morning, we visited the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens in search of some beautiful photos to inspire our art. We wanted to draw and paint everything we saw. As we were walking over one of the many bridges, we came across a fascinating flowering plant.
The sunlight streamed through the foliage above, irradiating the flowers. Each petal cascaded onto the next forming a cluster. Bold, yet delicate. They reminded us of dancing flamingoes. The spicy aroma of the flowers smelled delicious, and we wanted to recreate this experience in a print design. We searched for the name of our flamingo plant and discovered it was an Asian perennial called a Shell Ginger. Such a fitting name for such a delicious looking plant and so we created the Ginger Flamingo Scatter Cushion in blush.
